For those who don't know, the other day a bunch of threads on the EA forum randomly disappeared. Naturally people were concerned- many had put a huge amount of work into their modelling competitions/stories etc., so to see them scrubbed was somewhat heartwrenching.
There was hope that it was just an admin error, but sadly today we were given the news that the deleted threads would not be recovered:
It's an interesting explanation isn't it? And to me it provokes two main questions:
1- who would be sad enough to waste their time hacking thesims3.com?
2- who would be vindictive enough to deliberately destroy other people's hard work?
It kind of boggles the mind.
So amongst the lost- The Tea Legacy thread; a legacy that Kittycattylion had invested a huge amount of time and effort into. A legacy written entirely on the forums, meaning now that the thread has been deleted it's gone forever.
A little plug now for something I discovered a while ago but failed to mention.
A lot of the time, or most of the time, people go to the forums to ask questions- how to do this that or the other in the game. Usually this provides good results, but there are quicker and easier ways to find the info you seek. Such as this:
I came across this site whilst looking for help regarding how to build a Simbot, and boy was it useful. It has all sorts of information, from the basics- such as how to actually play the game- to some of the more involved aspect of gameplay- like completing lifetime wishes.
The site even has a review of Barnacle Bay, in-depth guides for each of the expansion packs, a FAQ section which provides answers to a lot of technical questions, and a forum.
You see this lovelyness? These are awesome-o FuryRed tees that were very kindly created for me by Abby. I <3s them, but in a true tragedy of Romeo and Juilet-esque proportions I cannot have them.
All the male versions work fine, but I've tried each of the female tees and, well, I get the following result:
A headless Fury is a sad Fury.
Yep, for some reason the t-shirts end up like this in my game :( Abby's had a fiddle and they're alright for her, so my question to you all is this- are you plagued by headless Sims too?
You can get the excellent tees HERE- if you download could you let me know if you find yourself in a similar predicament?
I have a feeling it's just my game that's being gay though, so my next question is this- can anyone think of anything I might have in my game that could be causing this weirdness? I have a lot of mods and shiz so I wonder if any of them could be causing a conflict?
I hope I can get my grubby mitts on the sexeh clothing soon.
My Sims deserve to wear my name with pride, dammit!
As you may know, currently in my legacy I have six possible heirs for the next generation. Six!
They're not all going to make it, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't all have a chance at happiness...
Now, I can't be arsed to create partners for all of them, so I had a thought- what if I got the Sims from you guys? Obviously I have plans for some of my Simmies, but the others will be wanting to get married and have kiddies to carry on the legacy, so if you can provide me with some good genes that would be supah.
A little note though- I do not download Sims from the exchange. I'm not taking that risk. If you'd like to offer me a Sim could you please upload the .Sim file (from My Documents> Electronic Arts> The Sims 3> Saved Sims) to a file hosting site like Mediafire and link me to that. Info about what CC is required would be good as well :)
If you've got designs on your Simmie shacking up with someone specific do let me know.
Here's a recap of their traits and shiz to help you out-
Vegetarian, Good, Genius, Flirty
Insane, Perceptive, Mean Spirited, Schmoozer
After seeing that my reaction was kind of... 'hmm'. I mean, it's an explanation of halves- it doesn't tell us the whole story. However, after nosing round on the forums though I came across some more info.
It seems (another) website glitch enabled people to download Simpoints for free, and it looked a little something like this:
So far kerby has admitted to using this method to 'illegally' gain Simpoints but I don't think there has been word from Alexurt, so it's unclear whether all those banned were in fact guilty. It definitely answers some questions though doesn't it- namely of how people could afford to gift so much, but it also raises others. I guess things aren't quite as black and white as expected- it's not a case of Simmers Good, EA Bad.
I'm going to be honest though... if I'd have come across the free Simpoints link you can be hella sure I would have used it, and I know I'm not the only one.
Some Simmers did a 'bad' thing, they got what they deserved, but to be perfectly honest I don't blame them. All the uber moral people out there are understandably going to be outraged about this, but me? Eh, I don't think I'm in any position to judge.
I've just come back from mooching around the forums as I do from time to time, and was somewhat perturbed to come across a number of threads and posts regarding one surprising subject: Alexurt has been banned.
Yes, the very lovely Simmer who gifted me Barnacle Bay, and who has kindly gifted so many others in the past, has been banned and her page seems to have been deleted, along with kerby414- another very generous Simmer. And the reason for this? 'Abuse of gifting.'
I fucking kid you not- that's the reason they've been given so far- that they gifted too much. I seriously can't even begin to comprehend just what the fuck EA were thinking. I mean, put aside the fact that they seem to be incomprehensible mean bastards, but from a monetary sense why would they do this? By these two Simmers being generous they are giving EA money, which is exactly what they want right? The only reason I can think of for them doing this is if Alexurt and kerby were using fraudulent Simpoint cards, but as I've seen a picture Alexurt posted of all the Simpoint cards she's bought then I know that this just isn't true.
EA... Fuck, I don't even know what to say about them right now. Absolute pieces of scum.
If you want to read more about this massive error you can do so on this Facebook page. You can show your support there, but I will just suggest you be careful regarding how you act on the forums- 'Bring Soandso Back' campaigns are never looked on favourably by the shithouses that are SimGurus.
And hey, if you ever want anything from The Store- go to MATY for fucks sake. I'd only give EA more money, aside from buying the games themselves, if I could shove it down their cold, stupid throats all personal like.
