Computer Confusion

Okay so I'm having some issues with ma game, and I thought I'd seek some advice.

Ever since I patched, my game has been taking a rather long time to load. Pre-patch it was like maybe ten minutes (my computer is olde and cranky anyways) but now it's at least twenty minutes or more. It's annoying, but not terrible. Ah, but then it got worse.

You see, since the patch added some new sliders to my game it's wreaked a bit of havoc with the ones I already had. As you may know there are only a certain number of slots persay for custom sliders, and if you have too many they stop working. Therein lies my problem.

To fix this I downloaded the increased slider hack from MTS, but after placing it in my files I found my problems with loading were much worse- my game wouldn't even get past the first loading screen :/

After this happened I then removed that mod from my files, but the problem remains. My game has done it a little bit before to be honest- not loading at all- but now it seems somewhat permanent.

So yeah, advice? I thought about asking on the forums but I knew I'd just get a bunch of SimGurus jumping on me and going 'The Sims 3 does not support third party mods rah rah rah', or people trying to ban me for mentioning scandalous breast sliders or summat.

I think I may have to resort to a complete un/reinstall to be honest, which wont be so bad as long as I back up all my shiz. Ideally though it would be nice not to have to do that, so if you have any suggestions let me know. Am I the only one who's suffered from ridiculous loading times after patching?

Thanks in advance for any advice you have to offer :)

  1. Do you have a lot of package files? Over 200 can cause your game to slow down. As I heard depending on your computer. I have over 2000 (Yes I know o_o), thats because I used to download everything. Anyway recently I found out that you can turn 2000 files into like 18 easily with S3PE.

If that's not the case, honestly I don't know then.

  2. Do you have a laptop? I take out my battery and when I replace it, it works just fine.

And if you are afraid of being banned from the forums, just create a new account with a new email and ask.

    That's all I gots. Sorreh :(

  3. I feel so sorry for ya. This happened to me right after I updated for HELS and I ended up completely uninstalling and reinstalling. Haven't patched since. :( I hope you can find a solution to your problem without having to go through all that! Good luck! :)

  4. I thought this was obvious, and since no one else has mentioned it its probably not right, but couldn't you just delete some of the custom sliders?

  5. After having the custom sliders, I know personally that deleting them would be like losing an arm. Even more so if you're an avid sim creator. The only thing I can suggest is a reinstall. This recently happened to me. So I uninstalled, and didn't put any of my old CC back in. I just deleted it all and started over. I only downloaded the best of the best.

I once had almost every hair out there, but I found myself only using about half, so I only installed what I found the be the greatest CC, the stuffs I used a lot. Plus I organized it all in very specific folders. Now my game is running beautifully.

Sorry to hear this, I know it sucks :(

  6. You should probably find all of your mods and write their name and what site they came from down. Remove them, and see if any of them are updated. I have had the HELS patch and it worked fine. Then again, I had about four sliders and no hack.

  7. And I did the same thing as Evie after my computer mysteriously crashed (unrelated to my game) and it's a lot easier to organize.

  8. I have the EXACT same problems as you are having. I tried installing that mod as well, and then my game wouldn't go past those first loading screens. Also, now it wont allow me to have more than 6 skins. I had at least 11 non default skintones and now they are gone. It's a bit of a problem, since I'm doing a legacy that requires me to have skins that are all the different colors of the rainbow... I hate these updates... my game doesnt actually take THAT long to load, but I have to restart it at least three times in order for it to work correctly. It usually goes like this; first i get the infamous "disc authentification" error, then the second time none of my custom content hair will show up so all my sims appear bald, and then it finally works the third time. This usually takes at least a half hour. I hate it so much!

  10. I'm not sure what advice to give. Just don't quit the game while it's loading, that makes the entire game reset. Once my game was taking too long to load, so I quit the loading screen and the next day everything from my game was wiped out, this has happened to other people too, and it's no fun :(

  11. Try the S3PE fix to get your CC down. Try Delphy's dashboard to see if anything is ridiculously large/laggy. Try uninstalling and reinstalling some mods bit by bit to see if one of them is the culprit. It might be worth asking at MTS as well.

  12. Thanks for all the advice everyone- am working with the S3PE thingy now so fingers crossed it all works out okay :) I do have a ridonkulous amount of CC so it should definitely help some :P

Once it's working again the only problem that remains is getting all my custom sliders to work properly (cause as Evie said it'd be like losing an arm >_<)

  14. ^ Sims 3 Package Editor

Also its not good to combine and mods packages or any slider packages as they might need updates. Only CC clothes and hair and junnk and furniture.

  15. I too, like Evie, have all of my stuff organized in folders so that it makes it easier to manage. But then again I don't have as many custom sliders because I am afraid it will mess my game up!
